The RE92 is a passenger car tyre designed and adapted for Australian conditions. It is fitted to more Australian made vehicles than any other tyre. Its tread pattern has been optimised to provide low noise and a good balance between handling and ride comfort. So I had a crash course in changing car tyres yesterday. It's really simple, and anyone can do it, even the members of the opposite sex. I drove to Ang Mo Kio with the spare tyre on, and decided to change the tyres to a better variety. I chose the Eagle F1s to replace the stock Kumho ones. The originals were smaller (185/60/R14) compared to the newer ones (195/55/R15). The whole tyre change took 45 minutes and $570 after a trade-in of the original tyres and rims for $150. My impression? The newer tyres are noiser, but it is because of their rating as performance tyres. I'm still running in the tyres, but they are great so far.
